cause

Error 8E03 is an issue with GW 5.5 and GW 5.5.1.

fix

1. Update to Support Pack 3 for GroupWise 5.5
2. Go to the DOS prompt and look for the directory where the executable of GWCHECK resides, and type the following: COPY CON ATTCLIP.NGW
3. Run GWCHECK with the following options:
Analyze/Fix Databases
Contents
Fix Problems
[Under the tab "Databases"]
Check: User & Message
