fact
Novell NetWare NFS Services 2.3.
Novell NetWare NFS Services 2.4.
NetWare NFS Server is sharing a NetWare volume via NFS so UNIX systems can mount it.
symptom
Group permissions for "nobody" group are not populating correctly.
A UNIX group known as "nobody" is assigned Group ID (GID) 60001. In UNICON, this group was entered and mapped to a NetWare object with full trustee rights to a directory. However, no group permissions where being created for directories which reported "nobody" as their group.
cause
The 'ls -al' command on UNIX may call a group "nobody" even though the GID for the group is not the GID assigned to "nobody" in the /etc/group file. For example, an /etc/group file may contain an entry for "nobody" as 60001, and also an entry for "nogroup" as 65534. The "ls -al" command may display both of those GIDs as "nobody".
fix
Verify through UNICON, Perform File Operations, View/Set File Permissions, that the 60001 GID is really assigned to the file or directory. That GID must be mapped to a NetWare group in order for permissions to populate for that GID.
