No virtual servers on NT IIS 4.0 server

symptom

Error: "HTTP Error 405 Method Not Allowed"

Error on browser when trying to click GO in WebAccess

cause

Checked the NT registry and the following entries were missing

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Novell\Novell Servlet Gateway
        Name:        Version (REG_SZ-String type)
        Data:  {Use "Version=" value from "servgate.ini" file on CD (config directory)}

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Novell\Servlet Gateway
        Name:  ServletGateway.properties (REG_SZ-String type)
        Data:   (drive letter:)\Novell\Java\servlets\ServletGateway.properties

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\W3SVC\Parameters
        Name:   Filter DLLs
        Data:   (drive letter:)\Inetpub\scripts\NSGISAPI.dll

WebAccess & WebPublisher Servlet Install were being run from another workstation and pointed to the NT WebServer Server, so the registry was not being updated.

fix

Run the WebAccess Install from the NT WebServer Server choose to install the WebAccess and WebPublisher Servlets.

cause

The Windows server was not reading the NSGISAPI.DLL in the registry.

fix

1. In the Internet Information Services manager go to the properties of the web site that owns WebAccess.
2. Select the ISAPI Filters tab.
3. Add a filter giving any name and pointing the executable to the NSAGIAPI.DLL file.
4. Restart the web server.
