symptom
Error: Error occurred while requesting proxy
fix
For AOL: Open the AOL client. On the login screen click on setup. Click on expert setup. Double click on ISP\LAN Connection. Click on the edit. Choose Manual Proxy Configuration. Click on View. Check UDP not available, use TCPIP. Check Connect using proxy. In Proxy server under host enter the private interface IP address of BorderManager. Enter port 1080. Under protocol choose either Socks 4 or Socks 5. Hit OK on all of the screens until all are closed. Close the AOL client and re-open it.
If the following is received: error occurred while requesting proxy, use Socks V5 instead of Socks V4.
For BorderManager: Open NWadmin32 and in details of the BorderManager server choose the BorderManager setup tab. Choose the Gateway tab. Select SOCKS V4 and V5. If access rules are enforced then create an access rule to allow out through port 5190.
