symptom

Users can't map or login to server - error 8819.

Users double click on the volume object in NWADMIN and get error 8819.

fix

For NDS 6.x or 7.x do the following:
1.  LOAD DSREPAIR | Advanced options menu | Repair local DS database.

2.  Set Check local references and Rebuild operational schema to YES, all other options set to NO.

3.  Run with these options, saving the repaired database, until zero errors are reported (and save the final repaired database).

 4.  User may have to shutdown and restart workstation.

For NDS 8.x do the following:
1.  LOAD DSREPAIR | Advanced options menu | Repair local DS database.

2.  Keeping the default settings, change only the following:
Set Rebuild Operational Schema to YES (which will automatically set the Lock NDS database during entire repair to YES), Validate mail directories /stream files to NO.  

3.  Run with these options, saving the repaired database, until zero errors are reported.

4.  User may have to shutdown and restart workstation.
