fact

Novell ManageWise 2.6

symptom

Error: "One of the library files is missing or damaged"

Error occurs when attempting to install ManageWise from Windows 95 or Windows 98.

ManageWise Autorun routine will not install ManageWise when ""Install ManageWise 2.6" is selected, nothing happens.

If autorun is bypassed and setup.exe is run directly from the CD, the error was returned.

cause

CLT3D.DLL running on the machine that setup is running from is not a compatible version.

fix

Temporarily rename C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\CTL3D.DLL and then copy the file of the same name from the ManageWise CD (it is in the root directory). Setup should run normally. Afterward, rename or copy the backed up version of the DLL back.
