Novell NetWare 4.11

symptom

Server will lose all communication

Alignment errors on the port of the switch.

change

Brought up a new Novell NetWare 4.11 SP5 Server.

cause

The connection from the server's NIC to the switch was a 100 MB, Full Duplex connection.  The auto setting on the NIC was not compatible with that connection.  

fix

Hard code the NIC for Full Duplex and 100 MB communication and reboot the switch.
