symptom

Want to add long name space to a volume

fix

1)  At the console prompt, type "LOAD LONG.NAM".  (For 3.12 it would be "LOAD [SPACETYPE(e.g. OS2).NAM])

2)  At the console prompt, type " ADD NAME SPACE  LONG TO VOLUME <volume name>"

Example:  ADD NAME SPACE LONG TO VOLUME SYS

You only need to add the name space once per volume.  Do not add this line to the AUTOEXEC.NCF file.

You may need to either dismount the volumes or reboot the server for this to be in effect.

3) OPTIONAL STEP  Insert line: LOAD LONG.NAM  in the STARTUP.NCF file.

Some have said that this line needs to be added to the STARTUP.NCF.    This is an optional step that really doesn't need to be done.   When the volume mounts and Long Name Space is detected, LONG.NAM will autoload.

If you are adding name space to volumes other that SYS, repeat step two(2).  Exchange the sys volume name for the other name of the volume

To verify that the name space has been added to your volume type volumes and enter to see name spaces on volumes
