Error: [Volume name] could NOT be mounted. Some or all volume segments cannot be located
Volume will not mount.
cause
This often caused by hardware failures: MotherBoard, Controller Cards, Drive Jumpers, BIOS settings. Can also be caused by Virus.
fix
Find the missing volume segments by using Monitor=>Disk Information=><Select the Drive that contains the Volume>=>Volume Segments on Drive(Select For List)
This will show the volume segments on the drive. Volumes can be made up of multiple segments that reside on one drive or multiple drives. If one drive dies and it held one segment of that volume then the whole volume is lost because it is incomplete and therefore can not mount. In this situation the volume needs to be recreated and restored from backup.
Errors that reflect that the segment has a different start and stop block are sometimes related to BIOS settings for the Hard Drive if the drive configuration in the BIOS was changed.
Run a Virus Scan on the server boot partition. The Stealth Virus has been known to cause this error and when removed the volumes mounted properly.
Ensure all disk drivers are loaded.
If there is no backup of what was on the drive and the data must be retrieved contact OnTrack Data Recovery ( http://www.ontrack.com ) for further assistance.
Also, if drives have been mirrored, and a partition is out of sync, no volumes will show up. You will need to use the F3 key in install, nwconfig nlms to resync these drives with themselves.
