The installation completes normally and then prompts for a reboot of the workstation .
symptom
Error occurs installing the GroupWise 5.x Client on Microsoft Windows 2000.
Error: "This program might not run as expected on this version of Windows. To continue click run program,..."
Error occurs when launching the GroupWise 5.x client on Microsoft Windows 2000.
Error: An error occurred trying to access MAPI address book services, error status - 0x8004010F."
Clicking on the OK button triggers another error.
Error: "GroupWise is not properly installed. The address book component could not be initialized. Please run GroupWise Setup ,or contact your system administrator."
WINDOWS 2000 MAPI Service Provider Not Enabled.
cause
By default, Microsoft Windows Messaging does not install on Windows 2000. Microsoft Windows Messaging WMS.EXE does not ship on Windows 2000 CDs. We ship some versions of Windows Messaging (WMS.EXE) with our products.
fix
DO NOT INSTALL THE WMS.EXE INCLUDED ON A GROUPWISE 5.5 CD on a Windows 2000 workstation. That WMS.EXE is only for Win95/Win98/WinNT. It may cause unknown problems with Microsoft Windows 2000.
Install only the Enhancement Pack version of Groupwise 32 bit client on Windows 2000, and connect client/server only.
For Windows 2000: Download and install the file WINNTWMS.EXE from http://support.novell.com. This must be installed before you can install a GroupWise 5.5 client on a new install of Windows 2000 Professional, Server or Advanced Server. See TID 2955774.
However, if you are upgrading from Windows NT 4 to Windows 2000 and you already have Windows Messaging installed, the upgrade should convert the Windows Messaging over and it should work fine.
We provide a version of WMS.EXE, specifically for Windows NT 4, with the GroupWise Enhancement Pack. It is located on the CD under the CLIENT\WIN32\WMS\NT\US directory.
