Receiving a -672 error trying to remove a replica from a server

Error: 672 -672 0xFFFFFD60 = ERR_NO_ACCESS

cause

Inconsistent NDS Replica Ring

fix

672 No_Access showing for a partition. When comparing replica rings, an inconsistency was found. In this case, the Master was missing 3 subordinate references.

This can appears in DSRepair | Report synchronization status as:

Partition: [Root]
Replica: CN=Server1
Server: CN=Server_naughty -672 remote

Typically, the source server (server where the error is seen) has the target server (server returning the error) in the replica ring for the partition being synchronized. However, the target server does not show the source server in its replica ring. Since the target server does not know that the source server
should be sending updates to it on that partition, it returns a -672 (NO_ACCESS) error.

1. Ran NDS Manager from the public directory of the server holding the master. Placed real copies of the partition on the three servers that were missing from the master's replica ring. By placing the real copies of the partition on the servers, the replica rings became consistent on all servers. Upon completion, all servers show one master and four read/write replicas.

2. Verify that both the source and target servers hold a replica of the partition returning the error and that the replica rings are consistent. If the target server (server that the updates are being sent to) does not actually hold a replica of the partition, then remove the server from the replica ring of the source server using DSRepair.

3. Also could refer to changed or new MAC address. Running a DSRepair | Advanced options menu | Servers known to this database | select the server returning the -672 remote error | Repair selected servers network address. Error: "Found a network address for this server...property for this server has been updated."
