Introduction With the continued addition of root domain names additional rules will need to be added to this list. Repeat rule #2 creation steps replacing COM with the applicable new root domain names (i.e. BIZ, INFO, NAME). 10008444
By following the instructions in this document, GroupWise client users will be able to send Internet mail by typing in the actual Internet address in the "TO:" line. This document assumes that the GroupWise Internet Agent (GWIA) is used. If the SMTP/MIME Gateway is used instead of GroupWise Internet Agent (GWIA), the Database Version of the gateway and external foreign domain should be 4.X instead of 5.X.
NOTE: These rules work on the premise that no GroupWise post offices have two-character names. If any of the post offices on your system have a two-character name, create an exclude rule for that post office name that precedes rule #9 (two-character domain substitution rules).
Example:
1. Click New
2. Enter the following description: Exclude post office <post office name>
3. The Name field will automatically fill in when the <tab> key is pressed
4. Enter the following "Search String": *@domain.po
5. Enter the following "Replace With": %1@domain.po
6. Click OK
To properly configure Internet Addressing for a GroupWise 5 system, perform the following operations:
1. The External Foreign domain must be created.
2. The links must be configured.
3. The Addressing Rules must be created.
4. The Addressing Rules must be activated.
Create the External Foreign Domain
The following steps must be completed to create the External Foreign domain:
1. In NWAdmin, select the Tools menu|GroupWise System Operations|System Connection.
2. Select the Primary domain for the system and click on Connect (close the operations window).
3. Go to the Tools menu|GroupWise View.
4. In the GroupWise View window, scroll to the very top of the list of domains and click on the GroupWise System entry.
5. Right click|select Create|External Domain and enter the following information in the fields:
External Domain Name: INET
Domain Type: External Foreign
Version: 5.X (for GWIA, 4.X for the SMTP/MIME gateway)
Time Zone: Leave this as default
Link To Domain: Leave this as default
6. Select Create.
Configuring Network Links
The following steps must be completed to configure the GWIA network links.
1. Go to the Tools menu|GroupWise System Operations|System Connection.
2. Select the domain that the GWIA is defined under and click on Connect (close the operation window).
3. Go to the Tools menu|GroupWise Utilities|Link Configuration.
4. Set the link this domain uses to connect to INET to be a GATEWAY type link, and select the GWIA name in the drop-down.
5. After configuring this link, exit Link Configuration and save the changes.
Other Domains
Perform the following steps for the remainder of the domains in the GroupWise system.
1. Go to the Tools menu|GroupWise System Operations|System Connection.
2. Select a domain and click on Connect (close the operations window).
3. Go to the Tools menu|GroupWise Utilities|Link Configuration.
4. Set the link this domain uses to connect to INET to be an INDIRECT Link Type, and set the Indirect Link Domain to the domain the GWIA is configured.
5. After configuring this link, exit Link Configuration and save the changes.
Make sure that the previous five steps are followed for each domain in the system. After the links have been configured, the Message Transfer Agents (MTAs) for each domain will restart. To verify that the links have taken effect, press the <F10> key at the MTA|Configuration Status and view the link the MTA is using to connect to the INET foreign domain.
Creating Addressing Rules
The following steps must be completed when creating the Addressing Rules.
1. Go to the Tools menu|GroupWise System Operations|System Connection.
