Issue

Virtual memory is a new feature in NetWare 5. All VM parameters are displayed in millions of bytes. This means 2 is 2 meg, and 1000 is 1 gig.

Basic structure of the console command:

swap [Add | Delete volume_name [Min | Max | Min Free = millions_of_bytes]]

Virtual Memory Options:

parameter: - informs the command to change an existing parameter on a swap file.
min or minimum: - minimum swap file size (default = 2)
max or maximum: - maximum swap file size (default = free volume space)
min free or minimum free: - minimum free space to be left on a volume not occupying the swap file (default = 5)

1. swap

When given no parameters, this will display swap file information for the server.

2. swap add vol2

This command will add a swap file to vol2 with the default parameters.

3. swap add vol3 min=5 max=100 min free=10

This command adds a swap file to vol3. It sets the minimum swap file size at 5 meg, the maximum size at 100 meg, and the minimum free space left on the volume at 10 meg.

4. swap delete vol3

This command will delete a swap file from vol3. Customers wanted this command normally to remove the swap file from the Sys volume.

5. swap parameter vol2 min=2 max=1000 min free=100

This command will change the existing parameters on the swap file that currently exists on vol2.
