Symptom
C022 errors in combination with D107 errors in Windows 3.11 using the Microsoft TCP/IP Requester.
They were using LAN Manager without problems and when they changed to Windows 3.11 and TCP/IP Microsoft client 3.11b, the problem appeared. Their network environment doesn't allow them to change all affected users to the Novell NetWare Client; almost every user is in a UNIX environment and only a few are on the NetWare environment.
This errors appear when:
- Inbox is open, the user receives a new mail message, tries to read message: C022. The user closes GW4.1a and relaunches it, tries to read the same message: no problem. He has no problem reading old messages, only new messages cause the problem.
- Inbox closed, Notify launched, user receives new mail message. Notify prompts user, user clicks on read, user can read message without a problem.
- When he tries to read messages in the Outbox, he gets D107 errors.
Troubleshooting
1) Perform an ofcheck (analyze and fix) on all USERxxx.DBs and MSGxx.DBs.
2) - Select a user who gets the C022 error regularly
- Do a structural rebuild on the user and message database
- Delete the user's Notify file
3) Install the Novell NetWare client on just one user's machine and see if the problem persists.
4) Contact Microsoft to see if they have a patch, as they have for the MS requestor for Win95.
5) After talking with our UNIX specialist, we noticed that NFS was not using the "file sharing" option. Using that option did not resolve the problem. See TID2907093 to properly configure the system.

Solutions
Remark out the VCACHE.386 statement in the Windows 3.11 SYSTEM.INI. Deselecting the 32 bit access in the Windows 3.11 | Control Panel doesn't solve the problem. You must manually remark out VCACHE.386 in the SYSTEM.INI.
