Installation Instructions:
This update is only for a server currently running eDirectory 8.7.3 SP10.
(DS.NLM - 10554.34)
This FTF requires that a full installation of eDirectory 8.7.3 plus
8.7.3 Support Pack 10 be already installed on the server.
This patch was only tested using the latest NetWare support packs.
NOTE: It is always a good practice to perform a directory database backup
periodically as well as prior to installing eDirectory updates.
To perform this function, Type "DSREPAIR -RC" at the console to
create the database backup file(s) which will be placed into
SYS:\SYSTEM\DSR_DIB.
Alternatively you can use the new dsbk backup and restore utilitiy.
Please refer to the eDirectory 8.7.3 documentation for more information.
01. Copy this update to a temporary directory on the server being
patched. (eg: SYS:\PATCHES)
02. From a workstation, unzip the file.
03. Load NWCONFIG.NLM at the server console prompt.
ie: LOAD NWCONFIG
04. Select "Product Options"
05. Select "Install a product not listed"
06. Press F3 to specify a different path
07. Enter the path to the IPS file in the 'NETWARE' directory.
ie: SYS:\PATCHES\EDIR8738\NETWARE
08. Press ENTER and follow the prompts.
NOTE: If you are redirected to the console prompt, press control+escape then select
the NWCONFIG screen to continue.
09. After the installation, you must reboot the server (RESET SERVER) to
load all updated modules. This must happen or the database may not
load properly.
10. You should then observe that the updated DS.NLM has been loaded.
Typing (M DS) at the console prompt should return a version of 10554.44.
NOTE:This patch installation script will not work from a
long name space directory or a directory that contains a space.
NOTE: If you receive a message that this is the second attempt to
copy the files simply select "Copy all files again".
