A 10.3 System Update downloaded before April 1 2010 may hang and cause high utilization on the database server. To prevent this from happening, apply this pre-global-actions-10.3. jar file to the existing update in the ZENworks Configuration Management content system. The jar file should be applied to all primary servers in the zone before deploying the 10.3 update to any devices in the zone, or if you experience a hang while deploying the update. If you downloaded the system update on or after April 1(noon MST), this update is not required.

Overview:

The 10.3 System Update may hang and cause high utilization on the database server. To prevent this from happening, apply this pre-global-actions-10.3. jar file to the existing update in the ZENworks Configuration Management content system. The jar file should be applied to all primary servers in the zone before deploying the 10.3 update to any devices in the zone, or if you experience a hang while deploying the update.

System Requirements:

10.2.x ZENworks Configuration Management Zone with the 10.3 system update downloaded prior to April 1, 2010

Installation:

After downloading the ZENworks Configuration Management 10 SP 3 update, but prior to applying the update successfully, please do the following:

1. Take a reliable backup of the existing pre-global-actions-10.3.0.jar file located in the following directory

For Windows: {ZENworks_Home}\work\content-repo\system-update\5010030000327d48854ff3bcc4b8f60a
For Linux: /var/opt/novell/zenworks/content-repo/system-update/5010030000327d48854ff3bcc4b8f60a/

2. Replace the pre-global-actions-10.3.0.jar on all primary servers in the zone

For Windows: {ZENworks_Home}\work\content-repo\system-update\5010030000327d48854ff3bcc4b8f60a
For Linux: /var/opt/novell/zenworks/content-repo/system-update/5010030000327d48854ff3bcc4b8f60a/

3. Apply or re-apply (if first attempt hung or failed) the 10.3.0 system update to the server.

N/A

Known Problems and Limitations:

If the update has already been applied to the ZENworks Configuration Management Zone successfully, then please disregard this patch.
