What's New
ZENworks 7 Server Management SP1 IR3a HP2 allows you to change the default password of the ZENworks database by using the DBPasswordUpdater utility. This tool is available in the ZSM7SP1IR3a_HP2\ZFS_TED\Dirstruc\Raw_Files\All_Platforms\ZENworks\PDS\Tool directory of the Unzipped Build or you can get this tool from the \ZENworks\PDS\Tool\ directory of the ZSM servers boxes where ZSM7SP1_IR3a_HP2_PolyDist.cpk has been deployed. This tool can be run only from Windows\NetWare boxes. This tool also shipped with ZSM7SP1IR3aHP1.
Changing the Database Password by Using the DBPasswordUpdater Utility:
1. On the server that has ZENworks Server Management installed, extract the DBPasswordUpdater.zip file from \zenworks\PDS\Tool to a temporary directory
Open DBPasswordUpdater.bat or DBPasswordUpdater.ncf in a text editor, and configure the following:
Set the value of "zsmpath" to the ZENworks Server Management installation path.
Set the value of "toolpath" to the location where DBPasswordUpdater is present. For Windows, this can be a period (.) indicating the current directory.
(Conditional) If you are running the utility on Windows, set the value of "javapath" to the path of the JRE's bin directory.
2. At the server command prompt, go to the directory that contains the extracted DBPasswordUpdater files.
3. Run DBPasswordUpdater.
On NetWare, enter DBPasswordUpdater.ncf
On Windows, enter DBPasswordUpdater.bat
4. Enter the IP address of the server on which the ZENworks database is running.
5. Enter the port number of the database specified during the ZSM installation
By default, the port number is 2638.
6. Enter the database user ID for which the password needs to be changed.
7. Enter a new password.
8. Restart the ZENworks Server Management service for the new password to take effect
The DBPasswordUpdater utility saves the password in the \zenworks\PDS\TED\DB.properties file.
Deploying the DBPasswordUpdater Utility:
You can deploy the DBPasswordUpdater utility in the following scenarios:
1. To change the Database password run the tool from a ZSM server machine, where the Database is connected.
2. Find out all the Distributors/subscribers that are logging to the Database pointed in Step-1.
3. Copy DB.properties file from \zenworks\PDS\TED directory of the ZSM server machine(In Step-1) to directory \zenworks\PDS\TED of all Distributors/subscribers found in Step-2
4. Restart ZFS service for all the Distributor/Subscribers involved in step 1 and step 2
Known Issues:
1. Changing the database password using the DBPasswordUpdater tool will cause the reporting snap in to fail. You can no longer see the ZSM reports using ConsoleOne. See TID 7001467
2. On NetWare machines after upgrading to IR3a HP2, the machines have to be restarted for the NICI changes to take effect. Unless this is done, ephemeral key generation and encrypted distributions will not work on Netware.
3. Manual copy of CPK will not copy njclv2.jar and jncpv2.dll to 'SYS:\java' directory.
