abstract

02 April 2008 - Initial Release of ZENworks 7.0 Asset Management PRU F

details

Overview: Product Recognition Update for ZENworks 7 Asset Management

System Requirements: System Requirements: See System Requirements for ZENworks 7 Asset Mangement Installation Documentation

Installation: This update must be extracted near the root of the drive, because it contains directory paths that could exceed the DOS limits.

Only an enterprise administrator can manage PRUs. The inventory process must be stopped before installing the PRU. Novell recommends that you perform this procedure between inventory cycles (when collections are not taking place). Not only is it faster to stop the inventory process when workstations are not being scanned, but also the new product data will then be available to all workstations during their next inventory cycle.

Note: The process of applying the PRU may take up to an hour depending on your system and network traffic.

After you download the PRU, extract the PRU files to a folder to which you have access from the ZENworks Asset Management Manager.

In the ZENworks Asset Management Manager, shut down the inventory process from the Control menu.

Click on the Administration menu, and then click on Product Recognition Update.

In the Apply Product Recognition Update dialog, specify the path to the PRU files.

Click on the Apply button.

After the process of applying the PRU has completed, then start the inventory process again.

ZENworks | Knowledgebase Update | April 2008

Corel

-----

Where is your Corel software installed?

Whether it's office productivity, illustration/design, or one of their many utility apps

chances are, you have Corel software installed somewhere in your organization. And,

if your organization is multi-national, you may well have various language editions installed.

That is why we focused not only on including Corel software titles in this month's

ZENworks Knowledgebase update, but also on ensuring that our software recognition

is granular enough to tell the difference between various language editions of popular

Corel products. Through the unique ZENworks approach, our software recognition logic

looks in specific locations on the local machine to determine the language and reports

this as part of the product version.
