Novell recommends that all customers on Access Manager 3 release code apply this. The purpose of the patch is to provide a bundle of fixes for issues that have surfaced since Novell Access Manager 3 was released. These fixes include updates to the Linux Access Gateway, NetWare Access Gateway, Java agents and the Identity Server build (which contains the Access Administrator, Identity Server and SSLVPN components).

details

Overview: This Novell Access Manager 3 Support Pack 1 patch readme contains a list of installation instructions required to successfully apply the patch, as well as a description of the issues fixed in it.

System Requirements: Patch needs to be decompressed on a SuSE Linux Enterprise 9 or 10 Server.

The AM_301_SP1_lagrpms.tar.gz, AM_301_SP1_NetWareAccessGateway.txt and AM_301_SP1_NetWareAccessGateway.zip files, available after decompressing this patch, must be copied to a Web server. The Linux Access Gateway and NetWare Access Gateway devices will download these files from the Web server when the upgrade process is started on either of the Access Gateway server platforms (more detailed instructions in below).

The AM_301_SP1_ApplicationServerAgents_Windows.exe and AM_301_SP1_ApplicationServerAgents_Linux.tar.gz must be copied to the appropriate Java agent platform and decompressed.

The AM_301_SP1_IdentityServer.tar.gz, also available after decompressing this patch, must be copied and decompressed on the Novell Identity Server, Access Administrator and SSLVPN servers.

Before installing any of the included patches, make sure that a backup of the existing configuration works before proceeding. To do this, run the /opt/novell/devman/bin/ambkup.sh file on the Access Administrator server and generate and save the corresponding LDIF and ZIP files.

Installation: Once the various components have been copied over to the appropriate servers, as detailed above, the component updates can performed. For a detailed list of the steps required to update the Administration server, Access Gateways, Identity Servers, Java Agents, and SSLVPN server, go to our online Upgrade link.

Problems fixed and known issues : For the list of issues fixed in this Support Pack 1 build, and a list of new features and known issues, please look at the following online readme link.

To access the Access gateway ISO objects for the Netware and Linux platforms, download the evaluation builds from http://download.novell.com. Once installed, upgrade the evaluation code to the fully licensed code by applying the Access Gateway versions from this patch. Check the upgrade documentation for more details on upgrading from one version of the Access Gateway to another.
