Abstract

NetWare 5.1 New IDE CHIPSET

Installation Instructions

Extract the files accompanying in this patch and place them on a floppy or some
other removable media supported by the target server hardware.
Commence with the NW5.1 install through the creation and formatting of the boot
partition.
After this point, abort the installation.
At the DOS prompt, create the NWUPDATE directory off the root of the C drive.
Copy the files from the removable media mentioned in the first step into the
C:\NWUPDATE directory.

Restart the NW5.1 installation and support should be present for IDE storage
controllers and devices.

Issue

Support for new IDE controller chipsets (Southbridges) is not existent in
NW5.1 FCS or Overlay installation media, therefore NW5.1 installation fails on
these newer machines.
